Expired Domain Traffic

There is a big market today that deals in the buying and selling of expired domain traffic. For persons who are not familiar with the term, expired domain traffic is essentially a domain that is not longer working, but is still receiving traffic either by people coming across the domain on search engines or by typing the expired domain name directly into a browser. The idea behind buying expired domain traffic is that you can drive the hits to your own sites and presumably generate some sales.

It is with this approach in mind that some people will gather up expired domain traffic and deliver it to consumers as targeted hits for purchase. The problem with this process is that you will most definitely get a nice chunk of hits, but you are in no position to quality them as bonafide hits that were generated as a result of consumer interest. As an example, they could just as easily be hits that were generated by auto-surf software. Also, there is not any way for you to know if the hits are targeted or not, even if you could identify them with a living and breathing person.

Another issue is that you never actually own any of the expired domains. They remain in the control of the organization you purchased the hits from. So the value does have a limited shelf life, and in fact you do not know whether you are the only one receiving the benefit of the hits or if someone else is also getting a share of the pie.

Expired domain traffic packages are usually offered at a flat fee and may include a bundle of several thousand hits. Of course, even though the hits are often marketed as targeted, there are no guarantees made that you will make even one penny from the hits. It must be understood that choosing to purchase an expired domain traffic set of hits will not necessarily lead to any income at all.

This is not to say there is no money to be made from expired domain traffic. However, instead of investing in one of these services that supply you with thousands of questionable hits, spend some time looking into how you can locate and register expired domains on your own and benefit directly from any hits that may be popping up for them. In the long run, you will do much better for yourself.
